Our Building for One Europe Internship Programme 2026 is now open for applications!

Explore our internship opportunities at QIA sites across Europe, and get the chance to be part of our moonshot mission of building the world’s first quantum internet!

This year’s opportunities provide hands-on experience in quantum technologies, including nanophotonics, quantum communication, quantum computing, and quantum sensing. Successful interns will contribute to experimental and theoretical work across quantum materials, photonic devices, quantum software systems, and emerging quantum networks.

Projects span the full quantum internet ecosystem, from hardware and device fabrication to software development, network protocols, and standards for scalable quantum infrastructures. This includes machine learning–assisted characterisation of quantum emitters, silicon-based photonic devices, high-dimensional quantum computing with qudits, programmable quantum network abstractions, quantum sensor networks, and analysis of standards needs for emerging quantum internet technologies.

Across all internships, participants will gain exposure to cutting-edge research environments and contribute to the development of the future quantum internet.

These programmes are ideal for candidates with a strong interest in physics, electrical engineering, computer science, or quantum information science.

So, if you are a master student, PhD candidate, postdoc, or young professional studying or working at a university, research institution, or company in one of the eligible countries*, you may be qualified to apply to any of the opportunities listed below. QIA will support your internship with a maximum of EUR 5,000 to cover travel, accommodation, and other expenses.

Browse through the opportunities below and choose the right internship programme for you. Once you have made your choice, send your application (CV max. 2 pages and motivation letter) to info@quantuminternetalliance.org on or before 31 May 2026. Please write “INTERNSHIP APPLICATION” in the subject line of your email.

*List of eligible countries: Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Lithuania, Malta, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden
