QIA Executive Team Member Tracy Northup from the University of Innsbruck gave a keynote speech on quantum internet on the first day of the event. She presented quantum communication applications, state of the art, etc. and zoomed in on QIA’s mission to build a prototype quantum internet.

Other members such as Stephan Ritter (Toptica Photonics); Eleni Diamanti (Sorbonne University/CNRS); Yasser Omar (Portuguese Quantum Institute); Niels Bultink and Fokko de Vries (Qblox), Thomas Monz (Alpine Quantum Technologies); Olivier Morin (Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics); and Hugues de Riedmatten (ICFO) were also part of the conference’s program.

Moreover, Michele Amoretti and Davide Ferrari (University of Parma) presented their work on distributed quantum computing at the EQTC 2023 poster session.

QIA participated in the Quantum Flagship booth, which showcased projects that are grouped into four pillars: quantum communication, quantum computing, quantum sensing metrology and quantum simulation. As part of the quantum communication pillar stand, we brought a quantum node, which contains a diamond chip with single defect atoms inside that are used as qubits. This quantum node is the basic building unit of a quantum internet.
