Metropolitan Team Lead
UIBK has expertise in quantum networking using trapped atomic ions in optical cavities, including photon-mediated entanglement between remote ions over long distances.
Within QIA, UIBK is developing metropolitan networks of multi-qubit trapped-ion processing nodes with telecom fibers. One of these processing nodes, developed in collaboration with AQT, is data-center compatible. Within the Metropolitan Team, we are currently integrating our processing nodes with photonic clients and a metropolitan hub, and with the Stack and Integration Team, we are implementing QIA’s unified software and network stack in the laboratory. Finally, together with the Long Distance Team, we are building an interface with QIA’s long-distance backbone in order to realize QIA’s prototype network.
