Career
Internship at Q*Bird’s Software Team
Open to master students or young professionals | Internship period: 3 months
We will tackle the question of how to implement communication between quantum hubs and nodes, including both photonic clients and processing nodes, at both the hardware and software level. We will integrate the control of Metropolitan Hubs into a classical network infrastructure.
You’ll be a hands-on coder; a developer with responsibility to extending existing sub-systems and for building whole new sub-systems. Tasks will be broad. You’ll be developing services in a service-oriented architecture, both between and within, a distributed system of network devices. You’ll work on defining new communication protocols between quantum network devices, securing those protocols with cryptography, working on API design, interfacing with existing communication/routing infrastructure, and working with prototype systems. You’ll probably need to learn new skills and languages (e.g. Rust). You’ll work most closely with the other software engineers, and interact with the hardware team when needed.
The best candidates are a Master’s student or recent graduate in computer science, engineering, or a comparable discipline.
- Have a strong desire to develop one’s own code and tests.
- Are a hands-on developer eager to deliver quality code.
- Experience (ideally 3+ years) in C++ or Rust, or, experience in a similar programming language like Python or Go and a desire to learn Rust.
- Experience modern version control (git) and best practices like code-reviews.
