Career
Internship at Q*Bird
Open to master students, PhD candidates or young professionals | Internship period: 3 months
We will tackle the question of how to implement communication between quantum hubs and nodes, including both photonic clients and processing nodes, at both the hardware and software level. We will integrate the control of Metropolitan Hubs into a classical network infrastructure.
We are looking for a new team member to focus on setting up quantum optical hardware setups. Your role entails designing, building, testing, and documenting many of the quantum optics setups we need, while keeping alignment with other scientists and engineers on the team. You’ll be characterizing individual optical components – often at the quantum level – and integrating them into complex setups, requiring full system characterization. Electrical and Software engineers will support you and use your provided feedback to make the tools you need to get the job done. You’ll be responsible for setting up basic scripting for running long-term measurement setups (programmatically and automatically), and then helping software engineers reproduce your code in a robust fashion.
The best candidates are Master’s or PhD students or recent graduates in a relevant field,
- Have experience with research/development in quantum optical technologies
- Have expertise using fiber optics, photonic devices, fiber lasers, EOMs, polarization optics
- Have understanding of electronics, C++, Python and/or Rust, to effectively work together with electrical engineers and programmers.
