Smarter Network Control and Coordination with Quantum Leader Election

Every time you stream a video, make an online payment or use cloud services, complex computer networks work behind the scenes to keep everything running. As these networks grow larger and more distributed, managing them reliably becomes increasingly challenging, making outages and slowdowns more likely.
In this webinar, we will explore how quantum communication could help make future networks smarter, more stable and more resilient.
Today’s networks rely on multiple controllers that must constantly coordinate and agree on decisions. Existing methods can generate significant communication overhead and become less effective when parts of the network fail.
Quantum communication offers a new way to tackle this challenge. By enabling more efficient and robust coordination between network controllers, it could help improve reliability, reduce disruptions, and support the next generation of cloud, edge and internet infrastructure.
The session will be led by Davide Ferrari from the University of Parma, who will introduce quantum-enhanced software-defined networking (SDN) management and explain how quantum leader election could improve the way future networks operate.
Participation is free, but registration is required and places are limited.
Organised by the Quantum Internet Alliance (QIA), this webinar is part of a series showcasing how quantum internet technologies can address real-world challenges and create new opportunities for society.
