The University of Latvia (Latvijas Universitāte, LU) is an expert in theoretical and experimental physics, as well as computer science. The Nanoelectronics Theory Group at LU, led by Professor Vyacheslavs Kashcheyevs, has been a key theory partner in the European Metrology partnership research and innovation projects on single-electron devices. One of the most recognized research centers in quantum computing in Europe is the LU Quantum Computing Center, led by Professor Andris Ambainis.LU has coordinated three QuantERA projects and the “Quantum Technology Initiative” project, which brings together Latvia’s leading scientists and teaching staff in the field of quantum technologies. LU scientists have also participated in the deployment of first quantum infrastructure in the Baltics – LatQN, Latvian national QKD network. At QIA, LU is involved in widening the European Quantum Internet Community and in Open Access Facility.
