The Quantum Internet Alliance (QIA) was proud to participate in the European Quantum Technologies Conference (EQTC) 2025, held from 10–12 November at Øksnehallen in Copenhagen. As Europe’s flagship event for quantum research, technology, and innovation, EQTC brought together leading experts, industry partners, policymakers, and emerging talent to discuss the rapidly evolving quantum landscape.

QIA exhibited at Stand 16, where our team presented a selection of key technologies and initiatives driving progress toward a global quantum internet. Highlights included:

  • A diamond chip enabling optical and microwave control, giving visitors a firsthand view of a prototype quantum node of the future.

  • QNodeOS, the world’s first operating system designed specifically for quantum networks.

  • Quantum Network Explorer, our open educational platform—developed by QuTech—allowing users of all backgrounds to learn, experiment, and prototype with quantum networking concepts.

Throughout the event, QIA team members Mariagrazia Iuliano, Ravi Vattekkat, and Jeremiah Fajardo-Oosterman engaged with visitors, provided demonstrations, and discussed the alliance’s research agenda and long-term vision. To make the experience more accessible, the stand also featured light-hearted qubit-inspired challenges that proved to be a popular way for participants to take a cognitive break while still engaging with core quantum concepts.

Strong Representation Across the EQTC Programme

QIA’s presence extended well beyond the exhibition hall. Several leading researchers from our partner institutions contributed to the scientific programme, including:

In addition, QIA partners Qblox, Swabian Instruments, Sparrow Quantum, PQI and Q*Bird were active on the exhibition floor, showcasing Europe’s strong and diverse quantum technology ecosystem.

Spotlight on Europe’s Quantum Internet Initiative (QI²)

Also part of the programme was an information session on the Quantum Internet Initiative (QI²), presented by QIA Director Stephanie Wehner together with Laurent Olislager, Policy Officer for Quantum Technologies at the European Commission. The session provided an overview of the forthcoming EU-wide programme (2026–2038), which aims to translate Europe’s scientific leadership in quantum networking into a commercially viable, sovereign, and globally competitive quantum internet infrastructure. Attendees gained insight into how QI² will integrate research, industry, and innovation activities within a coordinated ecosystem.

A Productive and Inspiring Three Days

EQTC 2025 offered a valuable opportunity to meet with researchers, industry stakeholders, students, and policymakers who share our ambition to build a resilient and scalable quantum internet. We are grateful for the many conversations, collaborations, and new connections formed during the event.

For those who were unable to attend or visit our booth, we welcome further engagement. Please feel free to reach out through our website or contact us directly to learn more about QIA’s work and ongoing initiatives.

We look forward to continuing the momentum and contributing to Europe’s leadership in quantum internet technologies.
