Embedded Software Engineer – Quantum Networks at QuTech

Image

The Netherlands occupies a unique position in quantum technology, with QuTech at its core. Come work as an Embedded Software Engineer at our growing research centre, located on the buzzing campus of Delft University of Technology

Job description

You will be part of QuTech’s Stack Team. The main goal of this team is to build a high-level, programmable, and automated software control of next-generation quantum networks based on quantum entanglement. This will enable the use of quantum network nodes in real-world telecommunications networks. The team itself consists of 5 software engineers. It is embedded in QuTech’s wider software and simulations team (~ 20 FTE) and is working closely with research groups in QuTech’s Quantum Internet Division.

What you will be doing

  • You will work in the Stack Team to design, implement, and test the software stack for next-generation quantum networks based on quantum entanglement.
  • You will focus on various embedded aspects of the stack, including real time operating system programming, embedded integrations on platforms with real time constraints, etc. You will be responsible for adapting the design in the face of unexpected research challenges.
  • Together with experimentalists you will design and participate in experiments to demonstrate successful hardware/software integration and the functionality of the software stack.

Requirements

We are looking for a software engineer with a master’s degree in Embedded Systems, computer science, or similar, with experience in C++ and Python-based software development.

Additional qualifications that we are looking for

  • Experience with crafting low-level software (peripheral firmware, Linux device drivers, etc.)
  • Familiarity with microprocessors, SoCs, RTOSs, FPGAs.
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams across different organizations.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experienced in and comfortable with Agile workflows
