The Long-Distance Team is responsible for the realisation of the hardware for QIA’s long-distance backbone using quantum repeaters. The team comprises leading experts in quantum memory hardware, quantum device theory, laser technology, cryogenics and control electronics.

The Long-Distance Team works closely with the Stack and Integration Team for integration of the hardware with QIA’s unified software and network stack, with the Metropolitan Team for the integration to the metropolitan networks, and with the Architecture Team for modelling and simulation support.
